Number mobility not going as smoothly as planned for those who moved early. The plan was supppose to offer cellular phone number switchers a new carrier with a new cell phone and new cell phone provider and be back on line in as little as a few hours or 2 to 3 days for some users. However some consumers are stuck in the middle with a new phone but no service for days on end and still waiting. The problem, the new software designed to make the smooth number mobility transition has a failure rate as high as 60% for some cell phone service providers. Problem number 2, fixing each transitioning customer is a low priority process. As with any new system, procedure or service being the first in line can also mean being first to headaches.
