Internet viruses and the anti-virus software on your computer
Preventing Spyware
How do computer viruses spread?
The most common computer virus come from email attachments.
The creator can easily get email addresses whether for free or by infecting one unsuspecting email user with spam mail
from which the computer viruses fetches your email list and then the game begins.
These people are sent the virus attachment under bogus email letters to the unsuspecting recipient
(maybe you) and the viruse loads itself into your computer as a file lost among hundreds and other
program files which will either infect your computer and/or scavenge email addresses from your computer
or email address book and send itself unknowingly from the user to more email recipients and the virus spreads.
The files may wreck havoc on your PC or may be used to attack other internet or business servers by
overloading web sites or damaging business servers like personal PCs depending on the purpose of the bug.
Unfortunately except for known computer viruses stopping new viruses can be difficult since experienced hackers are
familar with anti-virus software and aim to work around them. Regular anti-virus computer updates are a must.
Todays anti-viruse software not only scan your computer on a scheduled basis but also actively monitory your computers
ports for inbound and outbound data but also scan your emails an IM traffic.
One of the best way to avoid the email attachment viruse is to not open unexpected emails with attachments, just say no and erase them.
The hackers use sneaky headlines to get you to open there letters like 'reply' or 're' or 'customer support' and common major
credit, mortgage and banking names in the header.
From further inspection the email address does not fully match friends or services you expect.
